What is CBD?

Cannabidiol

It’s not a stretch to say that CBD (cannabidiol) is one of the most exciting and promising compounds currently being studied by the medical and scientific communities for its wellness benefits. Although government regulatory agencies have not yet ruled on the use of CBD to treat many of the symptoms and conditions it’s currently being investigated for, the FDA made headlines recently for approving the first CBD-derived medication to treat certain forms of severe epilepsy in children.
Meanwhile, misinformation and confusion about CBD remain due to the relatively recent emergence of this fascinating compound.
So, let’s take a deep dive into what cannabidiol (CBD) is and what it does…

What does CBD stand for?

CBD is short for “cannabidiol”, the second-most abundant cannabinoid molecule produced within the cannabis (hemp) plant. The most abundant molecule is, of course, THC: the psychoactive chemical famous for making users feel “high” (note that CBD does not have this effect).

Keep in mind that your body already has an endocannabinoid system, an extremely important molecular system that your body uses to regulate and perform various critical functions. CBD binds to receptors in this system; our bodies were designed to interface with cannabinoids from the very beginning — we even produce them naturally!

What does CBD stand for?

  • CBD does not get you “high” (non-intoxicating)
  • Comes from hemp or cannabis plants
  • Is being studied for potential anti-seizure and anti-inflammatory properties
  • Indirectly interacts with CB1 and CB2 cannabinoid receptors
  • CBD is federally legal

How does CBD Work?

Your body already contains a wildly complex endocannabinoid system (ECS) that affects several different areas and functions (more on this momentarily). That system is rife with “receptors”—sites that await the presence of cannabinoid molecules.
When the cannabinoid nears, the receptor will bind with it, creating a sophisticated chemical interaction that modern science is only just beginning to scratch the surface of understanding.
Unlike its sister molecule THC, CBD does not make you feel high—but don’t think that a lack of psychoactive or intoxicating effects means that nothing is occurring.
That being said, the endocannabinoid system is ubiquitous in the human body, affecting nearly all major functions in some way.
Because of this, it’s quite a task to discern everything that CBD does, precisely, when the binding occurs. That’s where the research is at right now: trying to solve that exact mystery.

What is the Endocannabinoid System (ECS)?

The word endocannabinoid system comes from the word “endo” meaning within, and the word “cannabinoid” which refers to the body’s internal nervous system and how it interacts with the substance known as cannabis.
An added factor of the ECS is the gastrointestinal tract—responsible for digestion and nutrient extraction—where food is broken down and used as energy or excess fat.
The endocannabinoid system is a natural nervous system found in the bodies of all mammals, including our own. Both the body’s central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system are integral to the endocannabinoid system (ECS).
The final part of the ECS is the immune system; the body’s natural defense against harmful pathogens or bacterium. When foreign substances enter the body, the immune system attacks them immediately to support your wellbeing.
All and all, the ECS supports a number of bodily functions, including balance, coordination, activation & suppression of appetite, and your overall mood.

Exploring Cannabis

What’s the difference between hemp and marijuana?

This is one of the most commonly asked questions among new CBD users. Here’s a quick explanation.
Cannabis is a genus of flowering plants in the Cannabaceae family. Hemp and marijuana are both types of cannabis. They look similar to one another and are grown in similar conditions.
Hemp and marijuana contain cannabidiol (CBD), as well as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is a psychoactive compound that creates the feelings many associates with marijuana, the characteristic “high”.
CBD on the other hand is largely considered to be non-psychoactive—similar to antipsychotic—and is associated with a calming effect on the body and mind.
The biggest distinction between hemp and marijuana is that hemp plants have low concentrations of THC and high concentrations of CBD. On the other hand, many marijuana plants have high concentrations of THC and low concentrations of CBD—as is the case in medical marijuana.
When we talk about hemp plants, we are referring to hemp plants that contain no more than 0.3% THC. Whereas, cannabis plants may contain upwards of 30% THC.

HEMP

Low THC (< 0.3%)

MARIJUANA

High THC (5 - 35%)

Statistically, hemp plants contain no more than 0.3% THC, while cannabis plants may contain upwards of 30% THC.
CBD oil used in U.S. products is almost entirely derived from hemp. Part of the reason is that hemp tends to have a higher concentration of CBD. There are some marijuana varieties that have high levels of CBD, but they may not have a favorable mix of cannabinoid and terpene compounds that meet the standards of sale set by the U.S. federal government.

CBD vs. THC

Although these plants share the same source family (cannabis), there is a huge difference between CBD and THC—both in the effect they have on your body.
In the past, CBD was stigmatized and ignored for any potential benefits due to its chemical proximity to THC (the chemical that creates an intoxicating “high”).
With the popularity for CBD is growing—along with mainstream acceptance—CBD is finally being explored scientifically for the first time. When it comes to CBD vs. THC, let’s set the record straight once and for all.

Effects of CBD

  • Non-psychoactive/intoxicating
  • Indirect agonist of cannabinoids
  • Binds to the allosteric receptor site
  • Non-toxic and safe for humans and animals

Effects of THC

  • Highly psychoactive/intoxicating
  • Has been shown to cause anxiety in some users
  • Still illegal in many parts of the United States and the rest of the world
  • Directly binds to CB1 and CB2 cannabinoid receptors
  • Binds to the orthosteric receptor site
  • Generally not safe or appropriate for animals

Where does CBD come from?

In short, CBD is derived from industrial hemp; this means hemp that is grown and certified to contain less than 0.3% THC content.
In regards to our process here at CBDfx, first, our hemp is selected by a leading expert in the field. The crops we use are organically-grown, pesticide-free, and non-GMO to make sure your CBD hasn’t been exposed to any types of harmful pesticides, heavy metals, solvents, or chemicals commonly found in less reputable CBD products.
The reason we do this is that hemp is pretty absorbent.
In fact, hemp is known to absorb many of the nutrients around it. This means that if the surrounding soil is contaminated with pesticides or other chemical residues like heavy metals, it could put the quality of your product at risk. At CBDfx, we make quality control a priority, which is why from seed to sale, we ensure everything that goes into your CBD product is as pure as possible.
Once we separate the “good” plants from the “best,” we leverage a specialized extraction process that utilizes CO2 extraction. CO2 extraction is one of the best extraction methods out there and helps draw out highly-purified CBD in one of the cleanest and most gentle processes in the industry.
Once the organic, highly-purified hemp extract has been extracted we combine it with the other ingredients of your favorite CBDfx products—which we craft with the utmost quality and integrity in mind—and quality assured under Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
This accreditation means the facilities we use to produce our products are monitored under the strictest clinical-grade standards and supervisions in the industry.
After their creation, our products are given rigorous lab tests where they check for the slightest imperfections and impurities. This is done at a third-party lab and if we find any test results out of the ordinary, we’ll toss the entire batch out and start over. For added peace of mind, each of our products is tagged with a traceable QR code.
This means all you need to do to know everything about your product is to take out your phone’s camera and point. The link that pops up will take you to the exact batch report for the product you’re using along with all the base ingredients inside of it—you’ll also know where and when it was made.
We also allow our customers to leave reviews using a standard star rating system so that customers can see whether our products are truly effective.
With only a few countries in the world producing industrial-grade hemp at the quality and scope required to produce effective and beneficial products, we’re proud to say our hemp is grown right here in the United States, in the state of Kentucky.
Here at CBDfx, we understand the role of physical and mental health in uplifting our quality of life. We take that role seriously, and that’s why we take such incredible steps to ensure a consistent and high-quality wellness experience you can count on.

So, what is Hemp Oil?

Hemp oil is the oil derived from the seeds of the hemp plant. Whereas CBD oil is extracted from the flowers, leaves, and stems.
Hemp oil is free of CBD, and carries with it the typical benefits of organic, plant-derived oils (think Sunflower oil) to support your brain, heart, and skin health.
So, whenever you see “hemp oil”—particularly on Amazon—know that it is likely free of CBD and the wellness benefits associated with it. So always look for “CBD Oil” to ensure you’re getting the most effective product.
The human endocannabinoid system—which CBD works to interact with—can have a profound impact on different areas of the body. While humanity is still looking to understand how CBD can regulate or affect our endocannabinoid system, anecdotal evidence has shown its ability to promote positive effects on the body.

What is CBD Oil used for?

As it is currently studied, CBD oil has shown promise in addressing a variety of mind and bodily concerns for its users. While research is ongoing, responsible brands cannot and should not imply that CBD can be used to treat specific disorders or ailments such as:
  • Dravet syndrome
  • Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome
  • Alzheimer’s Disease
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Schizophrenia
  • Coronavirus-19 (Covid-19)
Rather, we recommend trying quality CBD products for yourself to discover how it may serve to improve or enhance your daily wellness.

What’s in CBD oil?

The chemical cannabinoid CBD and a carrier oil such as coconut-derived MCT oil. Depending on the type of CBD (broad spectrum, full spectrum, or CBD Isolate), there may be other natural compounds found in the CBD oil.

Here’s a quick look at the various types of CBD…

Full Spectrum CBD

Full spectrum CBD oil is CBD oil that has retained all of its additional phytocannabinoids (CBD-V, CBN, CBG, etc.) as well as the natural terpenes found in the hemp plant.
Full spectrum CBD can be considered a bit more robust than broad spectrum CBD or isolate. What you get with a full spectrum extract is all the cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids that a given plant produces, including a maximum of 0.3% THC, meaning that you won’t experience any of the psychoactive effects associated with the compound.
This yields a particular flavor profile and a range of other unique compounds to enjoy, including CBN, CBG and CBDA.
It also means you’ll receive the complete essence of the hemp plant when using full spectrum products—and all of the benefits including the “Entourage Effect” (more on this later). Note: It’s important to note that there are still trace amounts of THC* within full spectrum hemp extract, however, it is below the legal 0.3% threshold** so you won’t experience the same intoxicating effects as the THC found in marijuana.
Full spectrum CBD products are great, especially in CBD tinctures.

Broad Spectrum CBD

Broad Spectrum CBD is used in everything from our vegan Morning and Night CBD capsules, drinks, gummies, vape juices, and even vape pens & kits. Broad spectrum CBD holds all the additional cannabinoids and terpenes of the hemp plant, including the Entourage Effect.
However, it doesn’t contain a detectable amount of THC—with the substance typically appearing below a 0.01% threshold.
Broad spectrum CBD gives you a hybrid experience that combines the qualities of full spectrum CBD and CBD isolate. Once the CBD has been extracted, the oil goes through a secondary process that finds the cannabinoid THC and separates it from the rest of the extract, while leaving all the other active ingredients intact.
This type of CBD is unique in its collaborative effects of flavonoids and terpenes—the latter of which are particularly important to hemp oil because of the way in which the terpenes interact with cannabinoids and flavonoids. Since this type of extract is useful in eliminating the THC found in a CBD hemp extract, it’s also the ideal type of extract for those who don’t want to take any chance at consuming CBD while still wanting to enjoy the extract’s terpenes and additional cannabinoids.
Broad spectrum CBD integrates particularly well into gummies as well as other edibles, topicals and even vape pens.

CBD Isolate CBD

CBD Isolate is used in our vape juices and certain skincare products like Bath Bombs and Bath Salts. CBD isolate means that the oil is pure CBD without the additional cannabinoid or terpenes benefits found in full and broad spectrum CBD. Although the amount of THC in CBD Isolate isn’t absolute zero, it is effectively undetectable at a threshold below 0.002%.
One other advantage of CBD isolate is that it’s flavorless and odorless, making it a perfect accompaniment to vape juices, such as this Strawberry Kiwi blend.
*Note – CBD is non-psychoactive and has none of the adverse side effects commonly caused by delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). **Note – As required by the United States federal government and the US food and drug administration (FDA), industrial hemp used in mass-market CBD products must not contain levels of THC 0.3%.

What are Terpenes?

If something has a smell to it, there’s a strong chance it has terpenes in—think fruit rinds, flowers, tree bark, essential oils, etc. Thankfully, terpenes are found in more than plant and food substances; they’re all around us and feature prominently in CBD oil and other CBD products.
Used for their positive wellness effects (aromatherapy and topical skin hydration) and for various other conditions, when combined with CBD oil they can help users experience a layered functionality—combining the benefits of CBD with the benefits of terpenes.
There are over 200 known terpene compounds today that can be sourced back to cannabis plants and over 20,000 terpenes overall.
Here are some of the biggest and most important terpenes in CBD…

Here are some of the biggest and most important terpenes in CBD…

LINALOOL

Linalool can be found in soft, flowering plants like lavender and chamomile, which can produce a calming sensation via its aromatic qualities.

HUMULENE

Humulene is found in hops, sage, basil, echinacea, ginger—giving them all a robust smell.

CARYOPHYLLENE

Caryophyllene is responsible for some of the spicier aspects of hemp's flavor profile, and binds to the CB2 receptors in the body's endocannabinoid system.

Explaining Bioavailability

How is CBD oil absorbed by the body?

Simply put, “bioavailability” is the amount of CBD your body absorbs into its bloodstream.
However, it’s important to recognize that different products have different levels of bioavailability. For example, a CBD tincture has a high level of bioavailability since it enters your bloodstream under the tissue of your tongue and is often combined with MCT Oil to increase absorption.
Once absorbed into your bloodstream, CBD reaches your body’s endocannabinoid system. Once there, it sends out signals to the brain’s receptors—CB1 and CB2 receptors. Remember, the endocannabinoid system is designed to maintain homeostasis in the body. However, when it’s acted upon by cannabinoids it can code for different physiological effects in the body.
These are the benefits that CBD users claim to feel and experience. However, many of us have a tendency to completely forget or overlook the level of bioavailability our products have as labeling is often absent.

Here are the bioavailability rates of CBD products from the highest level of absorption to the lowest...

Absorption Rate

Low High

Vape Pens

Have the highest rate of absorption because they enter the bloodstream directly through the lungs. The effects are felt in a matter of minutes but the duration is shorter than with consumed CBD.

Absorption Rate

Low High

Tincture Oils

This product category comes in second because it has some time to soak into the capillaries under the tongue when held there for 60 seconds before swallowing. The effects can be felt within 20 minutes up to a couple of hours.

Absorption Rate

Low High

Edibles

This where the absorption rate takes a dip because the CBD has to travel through the digestive tract and loses some of its potency in the process. The effects are also felt anywhere from 20 minutes on up to 2 hours.

Absorption Rate

Low High

Topicals

Products you rub into the skin work a little differently because they never enter the bloodstream. Instead, it travels through the top layers of skin before reaching sore muscles and joints.

How can CBD be absorbed?

As we mentioned above, there are many ways to enjoy CBD.
Here’s a quick breakdown of the different types of CBD absorption, their inherent bioavailability, and how they work…

Ingestion

This method of absorption comes from eating or consuming your CBD via a food (like a CBD gummy). The benefit of this method of absorption is that you get the full effects of the CBD as it becomes completely absorbed into your digestive system. It also lasts the longest among CBD absorption methods. The downside, however, is that once you’ve consumed the CBD oil, you can’t “un-consume” it, and you’ll be forced to feel the effects of it for the next several hours.

Topical Application

CBD topicals are CBD creams, CBD Foot Masks, CBD Balms and other external uses of CBD. The way these methods work is that they enter the lower layers of the skin to relieve inflammation and in some cases minor aches and pains. The benefit of CBD topicals is their familiarity with the user. Most people have used lotion or some other body cream for purposes of moisturization or muscle fatigue. Thankfully, CBD topicals can operate in a similar manner while providing additional benefits found only in CBD.

Orally

For many CBD purists, this is one of the more traditional methods of consuming CBD. Oral consumption typically takes the form of drops from a CBD oil tincture. The benefit of this method is that it can also be fast-activating—though not as fast as CBD vaping. Simple and versatile, CBD oil tinctures can be a great addition to any smoothie or drink, while still providing maximum body absorption.

Vaping

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, vaping combines the taste of your favorite flavors with the fast-acting benefits of CBD. In this way, it’s difficult to resist the charms of a good vape juice. Add in the fact that you have more control over the length of your CBD benefits’ effects and you’ve got a great recipe for quick AND lasting wellness.

The potential benefits of CBD

Not a week goes by these days without CBD grabbing a headline or two, and the news is fascinating as clinical trials continue to delve into the mystery of this unique compound.
Besides the huge amount of research being performed on CBD at this very moment (much of it funded by the United States government), anecdotal reports of happy CBD users have flooded the internet and captured the attention of the global media.

Although anecdotal reviews aren’t peer-reviewed scientific research, it’s hard not to get excited when you read the stories of satisfied CBDfx customers.

CBD is safe and non-toxic to use, even in extremely high doses

On top of all of that, the World Health Organization (WHO) conducted an exhaustive report in 2017 on the public health impact and efficacy of CBD.
Their conclusion?
CBD is safe and non-toxic to use, even in extremely high doses (more on this later).

Exploring Important Minor Cannabinoids

What are CBG and CBN?

What is CBG?

Although you’ve likely heard of CBD oil, “CBG” might be a bit more unfamiliar to many experienced users. CBG is a minor chemical compound found in the cannabis plant.
However, it’s got a bevy of unique properties that have made it a new and compelling compound for CBD lovers.
While CBD is known to affect certain receptors in the brain—ultimately coding for different physiological reactions and benefits—CBG (or Cannabigerol) interacts with the brain on a fundamentally different level, further enabling the substance’s “entourage effect.”

How does CBG work?

As two non-psychoactive compounds, CBD and CBG provide the expected benefits found by users of CBD. While CBD interacts with the brain to reduce the natural fear response—a big component of anxiety—CBG has been studied recently for its energizing effects. In combination, these chemical compounds can both calm the mind and energize the body to give users the boost they need to excel throughout the day.

What is CBN?

Unfamiliar to many hemp users, CBN is a minor cannabinoid and a derivative of THC. When THC ages, it becomes CBN. CBN is a non-psychoactive and helpful chemical compound that’s known to produce a pronounced calming effect in the body and mind.

This calming effect makes it easier to sleep, for example, and is one of the main reasons why CBN is quickly becoming one of the most popular cannabinoids for sleep. In fact, you can find CBN in both our Night Capsules, as well as our Calming Tincture, which is designed to help you decompress from a stressful day or prep your body and mind for sleep.

How does CBN work?

Cannabinol or CBN is a minor cannabinoid that works similarly to its bigger brethren such as CBD and CBG. In the same way that these other cannabinoids perform, CBN binds to CB1 receptors and produces a sedative-like calm in the body and mind. This physiological response prompts the body to become relaxed and produce a state of calm.

CBD Capsules

Simply put, CBD capsules are one of the most popular due to their small, convenient size, and the fact that they’re easy to take. Familiar to those who already take a dietary supplement such as vitamin C or fish oil, CBD capsules can be a great addition to any vitamin regimen if you’re in need of a little extra calm.

The Benefits of CBD Capsules

CBD pills are convenient—they’re also vegan in the case of our Morning and Night Capsules. With our full spectrum CBD Capsules (750 &1500mg) you can simply take one or two pills to get a full day’s serving of CBD that’s designed to bring calming relief throughout the day.
Thankfully, CBD Capsules also don’t require a servings chart. Take 1-2 per day with food and you’re ready to go. Each of our capsules is carefully formulated to contain the exact amount of active broad or full spectrum CBD you need for a lasting wellness. If you’re looking for a no-mess, no-fuss CBD product, CBD capsules are an excellent morning—and night—companion.

The “entourage effect” is an instance where various cannabinoids work in tandem to generate more pronounced benefits in the body.
These capsules are also coupled with energizing-boosting, slow-release caffeine and the amino acid, L-Tyrosine, for heightened physical energy and focus for your day.

CBD Edibles

From naturally-sweet, chewy gummies all the way to sublingual, minty breath strips, we’ve got a tasty variety of options for anyone hungry for CBD. CBD edibles outsell every other CBD product on the market—largely because they taste amazing.
When it comes to ingesting a pre-measured serving of CBD, there’s nothing easier than popping an edible in your mouth before starting your day. Without the need to calculate serving sizes or carry measuring equipment, CBD edibles are as simple as eating a gummy or taking a capsule.

The Upsides and Downsides of CBD Edibles

When CBD is ingested, its effects are brought on more gradually. This is because CBD must pass through the digestive system before it reaches the brain. Ingesting CBD also allows it to absorb into the body and be felt as an extended release for several hours.
CBD edibles also offer the widest variety of products by far, ranging from chocolate bars and protein powders to more niche snacks, such as corn nuts and sunflower seeds. There’s a product that will fulfill practically all of the food cravings that you may be having, and depending on the type of CBD extract and additional ingredients in the product, you might not even taste its hemp contents!

CBD edibles also possess increased flexibility, since you can combine them with other foods.

CBD edibles also possess increased flexibility, since you can combine them with other foods.
For example, our CBD tinctures can be combined with smoothies and ice cream to provide an additional boost of natural sweetness, or dripped onto your food in order to enjoy a hidden serving of CBD.
Although the taste of hemp isn’t for everyone the benefits of CBD edibles are that they’re treats. They often taste just like a sweet dessert (brownies, watermelon, CBD chocolate, etc.) without the earthy, leafy taste of hemp. As a result, they are the perfect middle ground for people who want to experience CBD’s benefits but don’t enjoy the natural, earthy flavors of hemp.

Utilizing the powerful moisturizing ability of high-quality nourishing ingredients like essential oils, along with natural botanicals like arnica, Vitamin E, aloe, white willow bark, shea butter, and menthol, creams like our CBD-infused Muscle & Joint Cream target muscles, joint aches and other pains.

CBD BALM STICKS

With two unique formulations using plant-based wax (candelilla wax)—not beeswax—our CBD Balm Sticks offer a variety of ways to address areas of discomfort across your body. Using a host of curated botanicals and top-quality skin care ingredients, our CBD Balm Sticks are handy to use and travel easily to the gym and beyond.
In the winter, balms can protect your skin from getting dry and chapped. Plus, smoothing a dab of balm onto your skin just feels good. Currently, we have two different formulations of CBD-infused Balm Sticks for you to choose from: Calming & Moisturizing and Muscle & Joint.
Oil-based topicals offer a variety of unique advantages; because these types of topical products don’t absorb into your skin quickly, they remain on the surface of your dermis and leave behind an oil barrier on your skin to prolong its effectiveness and skin-softening benefits.

CBD MASKS

Our CBD Foot and Face Masks are a fantastic way to moisturize and clean your skin while giving your skin a healthy glow so you can look and feel your best. With five variations of our Face Masks and two variations of our Foot Masks—all with 50mg of CBD—each offers a different set of topical ingredients and unique aromatics for your skin’s pleasure!

ADDITIONAL CBD TOPICALS FOR SKINCARE

From our CBD Bath Bombs, Bath Salts, and other CBD topicals, all are made to deliver a host of benefits using natural and supportive ingredients for optimal skincare and health.

CBD Tinctures

It’s hard to beat the fast-acting benefits of pure, organic hemp extract when it’s consumed orally. Starting with organic, industrial-grade hemp grown right here in the USA, our CBD oil tinctures hold some of the highest-quality CBD oil on the planet.
Blended with coconut-derived MCT oil for increased absorption, our CBD oil tinctures use full and broad spectrum CBD, other important minor cannabinoids like CBG and CBN (more on them later), purposely-crafted terpene blends, and a host of other beneficial botanicals and compounds for maximum effect.
These full and broad spectrum formulations mean our CBD tinctures are crafted to give your body everything it needs for maximum benefit. We call this “layered functionality”—a combination of rich cannabinoid profiles, terpenes, nutrients, botanical extracts and other compounds that work in harmony to produce a more profound effect.

Benefits of CBD Tinctures

While there are a variety of reasons to use CBD tinctures, the general consensus is that CBD provides a better sense of wellness and your overall well-being. The results of this can manifest in the body or possibly the mind, so we always advise prospective customers to try out CBD for themselves at a responsible level and to determine the effects for themselves.

Benefits of CBD Vape Juices and Pens

Consuming CBD in vapor form is one of the fastest methods of absorption, quickly becoming a more favorable method among users.
When you vape CBD, you can absorb the compound at a much faster rate than other methods. This allows it to reach your bloodstream through your lungs instead of your digestive system—which is what helps you feel the effects on your brain’s receptors even faster.
Not only does it absorb faster, but it’s also common to see CBD vape juice with very few ingredients. This makes it perfect for those who prefer to consume CBD with minimal additives.
Today, vaping CBD is also one of the most relaxed forms of consumption due to the delicious flavor-filled clouds and lasting tastes. The pure act of vaping is undeniably satisfying, and just think: we haven’t even gotten started on the flavors of our CBDfx vape juice!

In December of 2018, the U.S. government signed into law the Agriculture Improvement Act, also known as the 2018 Farm Bill. This carried with it huge implications for hemp industries because it allowed for the hemp plant to be grown widely under federal law.
This meant an entire industry could be created for the sale of all hemp-derived products—including CBD.
Since then, states like Kentucky, Colorado, and South Carolina got to work quickly, incentivizing farmers to start growing hemp. With an increase in access to quality hemp, U.S. CBD companies exploded.
As a result, CBD’s legality is clear and you’re now allowed to enjoy CBD in all 50 states at the federal level.
However, it’s important to note that different states have different restrictions, so be sure to keep up to date. A lot of states have restrictions about CBD being sold as a food or beverage, and in the state of Delaware, you have to be specifically affiliated with the state university if you plan on growing it as a crop.
